Gaming in the cloud

On the 17th of june, the US company OnLive launched the firt cloud-based gaming system.

The OnLive gaming cloud is based on the Internet Explorer web brower on the client side and on a special PCI-E adapter that connects to the company’s servers that run the games.

The systen has been under development for the last 8 years and it contains milions of code that allows the games to be run on servers in the company’s datacenters and to be streamed flawlessly on the users’ computers.

The custom servers required to integrate the platform were designed and built by Dell and will run games developed by Electronic Arts, Take Two Interactive, THQ, Ubisoft, Warner Bros Games and others.
